Heading 6

Why are my drains blocked?

Drains and pipework can get blocked at any time, it happens quite regularly. The main thing to do is to get it sorted out as quickly as possible before it can cause any inconvenience or damage.

Here is a list of common reasons why drains can become blocked:

· Mud and leaves. This is very common in gulleys especially if they haven't got a grate on top.

· Fat build up

· Soap build up

· Stones fallen in the drain

· Building materials. Plaster or concrete washed into the drain during building works or renovations.

· Scale build up

· Food waste

· Tree/plant roots

· Hair build up (common in bathrooms)

· Displaced joints in the pipes

· Broken pipework

· Foreign objects

· Collapsed pipes

· Toilets tissue/wipe build up

· Number 2’s (always full flush these never ½ flush)
